This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile app and website «Poás Agua y Fuego» (the «App») handle users' information. The App is an informational portal about the canton of Poás (Alajuela, Costa Rica): its history, nature, culture, community services, events and local directory.

2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
Some sections of the App include voluntary forms. If you choose to use them, we may collect the data you enter, such as:
- Share your story: name, age, phone, email, community or district, and the story you submit.
- Citizen complaints and reports: name and contact details (optional), location of the issue, and the description of your report.
- Events or other forms: the data you voluntarily complete.
All of these forms are optional. We only receive this information if you choose to complete and submit them.
2.2 Technical information
The App works as a viewer of the website and requires an Internet connection. When loading content, servers may log basic, standard technical data of any browsing session (for example, IP address and device type). We do not use analytics or advertising-tracking tools (such as Google Analytics), nor tracking cookies.
2.3 Preferences stored on your device
The App stores certain preferences locally on your device (for example, the chosen text size) using the browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
3. How we use the information
- To respond to and follow up on the stories, complaints, reports or messages you send.
- To display and improve the informational content about the canton of Poás.
- To remember your display preferences (such as text size).
We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
4. App permissions
The App only uses the Internet access permission to load content. It does not access your location (GPS), camera, microphone, contacts or personal files.
5. How information is shared
When you submit a form, the data may be processed and stored through Google services (Google Apps Script / Google Sheets), which we use as a tool to receive and organize messages. Such data is handled in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
We do not share your information with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes.
6. Third-party services
To provide certain features, the App loads or links to third-party resources, including:
- OpenStreetMap — maps.
- Open-Meteo — weather information (using fixed coordinates for Poás; it does not use your location).
- Links to social media and messaging (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
When you open a link to an external service, you leave the App and become subject to that third party's privacy policy.
7. Data retention
We keep form data only for as long as necessary to handle your request or fulfill the purposes described, unless the law requires a different period.
8. Security
We apply reasonable measures to protect the information. However, no system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The App is intended for the general public and does not knowingly collect data from minors. If a minor wishes to use the forms, they must do so with the consent of a parent or guardian.
10. Your rights
Under Costa Rica's Law No. 8968 on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of their Personal Data, you have the right to access, rectify, update or request the deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, write to cesarluis@techcentercr.com.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish the current version on this same page, indicating the date of the last update.
